Emergency Orthodontist in North Phoenix & Scottsdale

Sometimes, our orthodontic appliances may require immediate attention to resolve unexpected problems. North Valley Orthodontics provides emergency care to maintain effective treatment.

Comfort Visits

Here at North Valley Orthodontics, we like to refer to these impromptu repair appointments as “comfort visits” rather than emergencies. A true dental emergency involves trauma, infection, or severe pain. Orthodontic emergencies deal with managing discomfort or appliance repairs rather than providing life-saving care.

Prompt Repairs

In the case of an orthodontic comfort emergency, we do our best to accommodate patients into our schedules as soon as possible. When you run out of or misplace orthodontic supplies, like elastics or wax, feel free to stop by our office during normal business hours to pick up more.

If you’re experiencing any of the following emergencies, please don’t hesitate to call us and schedule a repair appointment.

Loose Brackets and Bands – Refrain from connecting elastics or loose headgear installations on your own. These are likely to cause breakage. Leave the loose band or bracket in place and cover the area with orthodontic wax to prevent discomfort, and come by our office as soon as you can.

Lost Retainers – If you’ve lost a retainer, contact us at your earliest convenience. We will prepare a replacement immediately.

Poking Archwire – As the teeth shift into place, the metal wiring pulling them together may become loose. If a loose archwire is poking you, don’t hesitate to call us to schedule a repair. We can quickly trim the wire. In the meantime, cover the area with orthodontic wax until your appointment.

Lost Invisalign Aligners – Keep all your Invisalign aligners in case one goes missing. Go back to wearing the previous aligner until a replacement is issued.

Prevent Damage to Your Appliances

Avoid eating hard candies, sticky foods, or food like apples that require a lot of front-facing biting. These dietary choices are likely to cause damage and wear to the appliances. It’s also possible to damage your braces during exercise. Request a mouthguard to keep your smile in check.

Call us immediately if you have any concerns. Dr. Levin and her team at North Valley Orthodontics will do their best to resolve your emergency at your earliest convenience.
