Types of Braces

With all the recent advancements in orthodontics, wearing braces has never been easier.  State-of-the-art appliances and treatments are now available, and teeth can be straightened using either orthodontic braces or customized aligning trays. Different types of braces will be suitable for each person’s needs and preferences.

Metal Braces

Traditional Metal Braces- A traditional method that can straighten even the most crooked of teeth.Metal braces are the standard option when correcting bite problems. They are proven to shift teeth properly and have a long-lasting effect, especially when the patient has severe bite issues, such as crossbite and large gaps.

Ceramic Braces

If you need the power of traditional braces, but would prefer a more discreet option, choose ceramic braces. This option utilizes tooth-colored or even clear brackets that are much less conspicuous than metal braces.

Invisalign® Clear Aligners

Clear Braces- If you prefer a more discreet treatment, clear or white ceramic brackets are a great option. This method delivers the power of traditional braces while being less conspicuous.

Patients with moderate malocclusion can use the Invisalign clear aligner system to straighten their teeth inconspicuously. These clear retainers are nearly invisible to the naked eye and require no dietary changes. Patients need to wear their aligners for at least 22 hours per day for the course of their treatment.

Lingual Braces

“Lingual” means relating to or positioned near the tongue. Thus, lingual braces are placed on the inside of the teeth. Some people seek this option because they are more discreet yet still as effective as metal braces. Lingual braces are not as comfortable as traditional braces, but they are good for athletes and those who play wind instruments like the saxophone or clarinet.
